Christmas in Chicago for Irish Juniors.
Christmas in Chicago for Irish Juniors.
The GAA handball Irish Junior team will jet off to Chicago this week with thoughts
focused in another record breaking challenge for international success. Following
the unprecedented 37 world title successes back in October, the Irish junior squad
will take on the best that USA, Mexico and Canada have to offer in the USA Junior
Nationals. Four of the team have already won world titles this year and will be bidding
to end the year on an incredible high, with finals scheduled for 30th December. Following
highly competitive Irish trials, Cork emerged as the dominant force, winning four
of the 6 team places on offer.
The team met up in Croke Park for a final training
session on Saturday and are pictured along with GAA Handball President, Tony Hannon.
The team is made up of managers Ryan Daly (Tyrone and Frances Curran (Galway) and
players Shane Hedigan (Cork/Boys 19 & Under), Killian Carroll (Cork/Boys 17 & Under),
Denis O'Neill (Cork/Boys 15 & Under), Shauna Hilley (Wicklow/Girls 19 & Under), Catriona
Casey (Cork/Girls 17 & Under) and Ciana Ní Churraoin (Galway/Girls 15 & Under).
