Death of Gene Turbett RIP, Omagh.

Gene Turbett, Omagh, passed away suddenly on Monday evening, July 23rd. He had been taken ill on Saturday and died around 11pm on Monday. His remains will be returned to his home, Ardmore, Omagh, on Tuesday evening, July 24th at 6pm. His funeral mass is on Wednesday morning at 10am in the Sacred Heart Church, Omagh, with burial afterwards at Drumragh.
The Turbett family have had a long association with the club in its 80 years and indeed they had been associated with the GAA in Omagh and Tyrone in the eary years of the last century. Gene was a gentle person, who worked tirelessly for the Omagh club but was always unassuming and went about his work quietly. His dulcet voice is well known, as he was the PA voice for all major games in Healy Park. Members of the Press would appreciate his co-operation and assistance when required. He was also the ‘Bingo Caller’ in the club until his retirement a few months ago. He and the late Jim Doherty were a great team in promoting the Bingo. Gene was also a leading member of the famous Melody Aces Showband and he entertained thousands every year with his musical talents and singing voice.

He will be sadly missed and most of all by his wife and family. To them and to his extended family and wide circle of friends we offer our condolences. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
