Death of Brian Óg Maguire

The world of the GAA and communities in many counties have been stunned and saddened by the tragic death of Brian Óg Maguire. The Fermanagh GAA star was killed in a horrific workplace accident on Thursday, September 13th and his death has been a devastating blow to his family and relatives, work colleagues, team mates and very wide circle of friends. He was a talented player with Fermanagh and the Lisnaskea Emmetts club, and captained them to the All-Ireland Intermediate honours last year. He was also a member of the International Rules side. He has been described as ‘an inspirational leader’ on the field and played a central role in all his games. Tributes to the deceased have been pouring in from all branches of the GAA and from all sections of the community.

Fermanagh GAA County Committee, County Senior Football Management Team and players are shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden death of our County Senior player and teammate Brian Og Maguire due to an accident at his work.

We extend our sympathy to Brian Og’s parents Brian and Eileen, sisters Roisin and Eimear, his entire family circle and the members of his Club Lisnaskea Emmetts at this most difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this sad time.

Due to the tragic death of Brian Óg Maguire, Lisnaskea Emmets and Fermanagh County player, CCC have cancelled all club matches this weekend as a mark of respect. This includes Youth games (which will be separately notified by the Youth Board) and the SHC Final scheduled for this Sunday Sept 16th. Refixtures will be released as soon as is appropriate in the circumstances.

Brian Og Maguire remains will return to his family home (Macknagh) this afternoon, house strictly private until 6:30pm.
